Biography
Although born in Brooklyn, Hugh Blumenfeld now makes his home in Connecticut. He stood out as a central figure in the Greenwich Village scene of the late 1980s, worked as associate editor and songwriter for Fast Folk Musical Magazine, took first place in the Kerrville New Folk Competition, appeared on Christine Lavin's On a Winter's Night compilation, and became the inaugural signing to the newly established 1 800 Prime CD label. A Ph.D. in poetry has never hindered his straightforward approach to songwriting, as demonstrated on the albums Strong in Spirit in 1987, Barehanded in 1989, and Mozart's Money in 1996, with Rocket Science arriving in 1998.
