Biography
Hum Machine originated in Madison, Wisconsin, launching its alternative rock performances throughout the Midwest during the mid-1990s. Their first release, Speed Kills the Dying Beat, came out in 1996 and earned regional attention plus mentions in Chicago outlets. The Trance Voltage Solution arrived next as a guitar-intensive album that secured extensive college radio rotation. Spring 1999 brought Pay Victoria, which captured the group’s road-weary outlook and irritated mindset while exposing a more strained yet energetic facet of their sound. After touring in support, the members stepped away for writing and recovery before returning to the studio at the close of 2001. Those sessions yielded No Joy in Mudville, issued in summer 2002.
