Biography
Human People emerged in the New York underground by fusing the drive of the '90s riot grrrl movement with pop-punk's irreverent edge, arriving via their first release, the 2016 EP Sleep Year.
The Brooklyn quartet of Hayley Livingston (vocals/guitar), Marisa Gershenhorn (vocals/guitar), Abby Austin (bass), and Vicki Guillem (drums) formed in 2014 around a mutual appreciation for classic New York punk, '60s girl groups, and '90s alt-rock. Their lo-fi debut EP Sleep Year surfaced in 2016, followed several months later by Veronica. They became mainstays of the D.I.Y. circuit, playing occasional shows throughout 2017 while tracking songs for a full-length debut. After signing with Exploding in Sound, the label released Butterflies Drink Turtle Tears in fall 2018.
