Biography
Eclectic art pop outfit Human Radio originated in Memphis during 1989 under the leadership of vocalist Ross Rice. After inking a deal with Columbia, the band delivered its self-titled debut album in 1990, which yielded the minor success “Me and Elvis.” Following a relocation to Nashville, the group walked away from its Columbia arrangement, tested the waters with additional labels, and cut a series of fresh demos before splitting up after an underwhelming industry showcase. Rice released his first solo effort, Umpteen, in 1997.
