Hunx & His Punx

Originally denoting a prison inmate's homosexual partner, the word "punk" later came to signify brisk rock numbers, yet both senses aptly describe Hunx & His Punx. In 2008 flamboyant hair stylist Seth Bogart, already known as the leader of the theatrical electro ensemble Gravy Train!!!!, launched the garage-punk band Hunx & His Punx, whose Ramones-inflected tunes centered on handsome young men. The group's debut, Gay Singles LP, appeared on True Panther Sounds in 2010 and was succeeded the following year by Too Young to Be in Love on Hardly Art. Over the ensuing period Bogart issued contrasting projects, among them the comparatively subdued Hairdresser Blues solo set credited solely to Hunx in 2012 and, in 2013, the grittier, less theatrical Street Punk album issued once more as Hunx & His Punx.
