Hydroplane

Hydroplane formed during 1996 with an initial plan to issue just one album before vanishing entirely in order to cultivate lasting mystique. Drive-In Records brought out the band’s self-titled debut in 1997; the warm reception accorded their straightforward dream-pop approach and female vocals persuaded the group to operate as an ongoing concern. During the ensuing two years Melbourne witnessed the appearance of several 7" EPs on assorted labels, after which Drive-In released the follow-up album Hope Against Hope in 1999.
