Biography
Hyena Motorcade emerged in the summer of 2009 as a West Coast indie rock ensemble based in Orange County, California. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ric Kaley joined forces with guitarist Mark Allen, bassist Art Agunod, and drummer Alberto Campos to launch the project. Their music fuses a heady, melodic post-punk framework with new wave and no wave textures plus serpentine, blues-kissed alt-pop. Early songwriting drew from the catalogs of Bauhaus, David Bowie, Echo & the Bunnymen, Sisters of Mercy, and Joy Division. The quartet followed formation with a three-song EP, then delivered a four-song EP in 2013. Growing regional traction brought support slots alongside the Fixx, Modern English, and Bow Wow Wow, while the group also mounted its own headline dates. In 2014 the band disclosed plans to cut a full-length debut under the guidance of Psychedelic Furs guitarist John Ashton.
