Biography
British DJ and producer I. Jordan crafts opulent, uplifting electronic dance pieces that fluidly move across genres including filter house, atmospheric drum'n'bass, and exuberant U.K. garage. EPs such as For You in 2020 and Watch Out! from 2021 embody Jordan's enduring enthusiasm for club sounds alongside their own path of personal growth and realization. The joyful first full-length I Am Jordan emerged in 2024.
Jordan spent their early years in the Northern English town of Doncaster. Drawn to rapid, high-energy dance sounds, they gravitated toward trance, happy hardcore, and drum'n'bass yet initially struggled to find a foothold in the club environment. Relocating to Hull for university, Jordan joined a DJ society and rose to president during their final year. In the mid-2010s they settled in London and immersed themselves in the city's queer clubbing community. Alongside figures such as Deadboy and Yamaneko, Jordan played a central role in New Atlantis, a monthly gathering and label devoted to ambient and new age music. Their earliest production, "See Four," surfaced on the 2017 compilation New Atlantis, Vol. 1.
Although Jordan kept producing ambient material on the side, their profile rose sharply after Local Action issued the May 2019 EP DNT STOP MY LV, a set of dance tracks that fused every strand of their influences. Soon afterward came the singles "WARPER" and "H.U.R.L."/"F.U.R.L.," the latter a collaboration with longtime friend and frequent DJ partner Finn. The self-dedicated, six-track EP For You, an eclectic celebration shaped by Jordan's self-care routines, arrived in 2020 and appeared on multiple year-end lists. The next year Jordan joined the Ninja Tune roster; their first release for the label was the EP Watch Out!, which included the warm, propulsive cut "And Groove." The Finn collaboration "All About Love"/"Big B" closed out 2021.
In 2022 Jordan partnered with Fred again.. on the single "Admit It (u dont want 2)." Additional standalone tracks followed, among them "Always Been" and "Give It 2 Me." A split single with Sherelle appeared on Fabric in 2023, while further releases included the Planningtorock collaboration "TNB" and the HAAi DJ-Kicks contribution "Life on the Wing." The full-length I Am Jordan, a celebration of trans joy that incorporates styles such as donk and euphoric trance, arrived in 2024.
