Legendary Italian experimental rock band Nomadi came together in 1963, assembled by singer Augusto Daolio alongside keyboardist Beppe Carletti, guitarist Franco Midili, drummer Leonardo Manfredini, sax player Gualtiero Gelmini, and bassist Antonio Campari. Its first album appeared in 1965. Over the subsequent period the group, whose name translates as the Nomads, appeared at major domestic festivals including San Remo and Canzonissima while also circulating its recordings across Europe. Two deaths struck in 1992 when founder Augusto Daolio passed away and bassist Dante Pergreffi perished in an accident. The remaining members chose to continue, dedicating their performances to those earlier colleagues. Shortly afterward Nomadi shared stages with Chilean Inti Illimani and, in 1994, organized a drive to gather school supplies for children in Cuba. During those same years the band lent support to campaigns run by Green Peace and Amnesty International.
