Pop/rock singer/songwriter/pianist Ian McGlynn descends from rock & roll drummer Ed McGlynn on his father’s side and from a classically trained pianist on his mother’s. He took up the piano at three and composed his debut song by the time he turned twelve. After earning a degree from the Berklee College of Music, he captured his debut album, Lemon, in a live setting at the Lemon Lounge on July 22, 2001, backed by his father and bassist Bill Knudson; the recording surfaced on his own IEM Music imprint on December 10, 2002. Bailey Park Records issued his first proper studio effort, Tomorrow’s Taken, on April 13, 2004, and later presented the remix edition Tomorrow’s Re-Taken on March 7, 2007. The track “Nowhere” appeared beneath the end credits of the 2006 feature Off the Black, while additional songs found placement in My Mom’s New Boyfriend (2008) and One — A Lucid Experience. His sophomore studio album, This Is the Sound, reached stores on October 21, 2008. Across the spring and summer of 2009 he issued four digital singles—“Nowhere,” “I Took an Oath,” “Listening In,” and “We Should Hang in the Museum.”
