Biography
Elizabeth Sharp founded the solo endeavor Ill Ease after her birth in Maryland on December 14, 1971. A neurological condition that translated written music into sensations of pleasure spurred her to pick up multiple instruments throughout her teenage years. She performed with assorted groups before taking on drumming duties during a notable period with New Radiant Storm King. After settling in New York City, Sharp used a shared rehearsal room belonging to an acquaintance who owned recording gear and simultaneously attracted attention for her photography. She began capturing her own performances alone, both for logistical ease and because she preferred working without additional participants. This approach positioned her as Ill Ease’s sole member. The project first appeared on record with Live at the Gate in 1998, then Circle Line Tours in 1999, and Live at the Holiday Sin in 2002. The last of these, tracked inside an Atlantic City motel room, substantially raised Ill Ease’s profile. Too Pure took notice, offered a deal to Sharp under the Ill Ease name, and put out Exorcist in August 2004.
