Biography
Formed by rappers Tone Tank and Krayo, the Brooklyn duo Iller Than Theirs arose from the city’s underground hip-hop community that flourished in the second half of the 2000s. Tank, after relocating from Phoenix, AZ, to Brooklyn, joined forces with Krayo, who already belonged to the local crews Nuclear Family and Junk Science. Following a string of guest spots on other projects, the pair issued their self-titled debut album Iller Than Theirs, crafted almost entirely by J. Howells Werthman and Snafu of Junk Science. Cynicism and pointed critiques of the music business ran throughout the record. A cameo from Brooklyn veteran Masta Ace also appeared on the project.
