Biography
Illusion 33, an Idaho quartet built around vocalist and bassist Jason Soddard, guitarists Jesse Bennett and Bob Capka, and drummer K.C. Carter, takes its cue from the Gin Blossoms and similar groups that fused alt-rock with pop harmonies. The band’s self-released, self-titled debut appeared in 2001, followed two years later by the Live Acoustic EP. Over the next several seasons the group crisscrossed the United States while securing rotation on modern rock stations nationwide. Recognition arrived in 2005 when Illusion 33 received the “Best Band” prize at the Las Vegas Music & Fashion Expo; in 2007 the band signed with Dummy Boy and issued 18 Shades. The single and video “Words in Stereo” surfaced the following year.
