Biography
Not typical post-punk revivalists, I'm in You centers on the core trio of vocalists/guitarists Chris McHenry and Sebastian Ischer alongside bassist Dmitry Ishenko, who blend disco, free jazz, and experimental electronics with assorted collaborators to shape their moody songs. Formed in 2007, the group issued its debut album, War Dreams, in 2008; the record drew the attention of Interpol's Paul Banks, who invited the band to open his Julian Plenti tour in 2009. The following year I'm in You delivered its self-titled second album, marked by a more experimental approach that featured strings, vintage synths, and industrial-inspired percussion. Drawing from funk, R&B, and new wave, the band crafted 2013's Trust, which it characterized as a re-imagining of the sounds that shaped its early years.
