Biography
In 1999, Long Island, NY, saw the formation of Imaginary Bill as vocalist/guitarist Steve Rouach, drummer Mike Smith, and bassist Jed Slattery chose to pool their talents after sharing a residence for several years. Each had been active in separate groups, yet their initial jam sessions demonstrated that the combined sound surpassed their individual work, leading them to compose multiple tracks and enter the vibrant New York City music scene. After sharing bills with more prominent contemporaries such as the Strokes, Imaginary Bill issued their self-titled debut album on Sportin Company in 2000 and kept performing at New York venues.
