In Search Of A Rose

Origin: U.S.A

Hailing from Westfalia, In Search of a Rose formed an intense German folk-rock ensemble whose punk-inflected stance and sharp instrumental command evoke the early Pogues. Acoustic tools such as banjo, whistle, mandolin, and accordion were deployed to bolster the material, though always filtered through an underlying rock drive. Even with their German origins, the group’s self-penned songs project a predominantly Celtic flavor while rendering additional European touches nearly imperceptible. Issued in 1995, their striking debut album Conquering earned favorable notice within certain German locales yet never achieved broader national traction. The EP Freaks arrived in 1996, followed by Fresh Lotus Surprise in 1997, both maintaining the same unassuming stylistic path. By the 2000 album Extravaganza the band had shifted direction, embracing a stronger alternative pop-rock aesthetic.
