Born in Lithuania yet now London-based, pianist Indre Petrauskaite has appeared as a recitalist and concerto soloist throughout her native country, Britain, and additional European venues. Her discography includes releases on the Toccata Classics and Avie imprints.

During her formative years in the Lithuanian city of Kaunas, she studied with Birute Kumpikiene at the J. Naujalis Music High School. While still a student there she performed recitals both alone and in chamber settings and appeared as concerto soloist with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. In 1995 she entered the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where Veronika Vitaite served as her teacher. Those student years brought several competition successes, among them prizes from the Stasys Vainiūnas International Piano Competition in Lithuania, the Senigallia International Piano Competition in Italy, and the Grand Prix at Latvia’s Alternativa event. After completing bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Lithuanian Academy, she earned a DipRAM at the Royal Academy of Music in London under Christopher Elton, Petras Geniusas, and Alexander Satz. She also participated in master classes given by Leif Ove Andsnes, Paul Lewis, and John O’Conor.

Petrauskaite has appeared with ensembles such as the Stuttgart Academy Youth Orchestra and the London Soloists Orchestra. Festival engagements have included the Santander Festival in Spain, the Oxford Lieder Festival in Britain, and Lithuania’s Pazaislis Festival. Since 2000 she has maintained chamber-music partnerships with both the Kaunas String Quartet and the Vilnius String Quartet.

Her first recording, issued by Toccata Classics in 2018, presented her own piano transcription of Ravel’s ballet Daphnis et Chloé. In 2021 she returned on the Avie label with Mozart: Solo Piano Works, devoted to the composer’s keyboard pieces written in minor keys.
