Biography
Formed in Toronto, the art-pop endeavor known as Ingredient unites songwriters and musicians Ian Daniel Kehoe with Luka Kuplowsky. Their first album, issued under the same name in 2022, presents the pair shaping rich, tactile compositions that carry reflective and contemplative words while merging elements of sophisti-pop and new wave with house and R&B.
During 2020, Ian Daniel Kehoe contacted Luka Kuplowsky while experiencing spells of tension, disorientation, and distress, hoping the two might produce a record as a shared project. These longtime companions turned to music for its restorative qualities, merging understated rhythmic pulses, delicate synthesizer hues, echoing dub textures, and mellow, intimate vocal lines. Telephone Explosion issued the resulting full-length recording, Ingredient, in 2022.
