Biography
Portland, OR-based Inked in Blood delivers metallic hardcore marked by melodic hooks alongside mosh-pit intensity. During summer 2004 the group placed its previously self-released five-song debut EP, Awakening Vesuvius, with Strike First Records, an imprint then handled by the predominantly Christian hardcore label Facedown Records. Early the following year Inked in Blood formally joined the California roster of Facedown, which issued the full-length Lay Waste the Poets that autumn. Early the next year a run of dates supporting New Dead Radio and Countdown to Life coincided with multiple personnel shifts that left original members Joey Trump on vocals and Matt McDonnell on guitar rebuilding the lineup. Guitarist Kelly Mullinx, drummer Stephen Poole, and bassist Steven Gosvener ultimately completed the roster; once additional shows concluded, the refreshed unit entered the studio for its next recording. The resulting album Sometimes We Are Beautiful, composed under the strong influence of Christian emo-rockers Further Seems Forever, surfaced in October 2007. Further concerts alongside Burden of a Day followed.
