Biography
The eleven-piece Inner Shade draws on collective experience in worldbeat, reggae, R&B, and jazz that reaches back to 1984. Composer Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and vocalist Maysa, both leaders of the legendary jazz get-up Incognito, appear on the project, which recalls that ensemble yet layers in synthesizers, drum machines, and tape loops. These components shaped the band’s debut album, 4 Corners, which surfaced in early 1999.
