Biography
After attending the National School of Music, Carreño later taught theory at Caracas’s José Angel Lamas School for advanced music studies. He also played horn and directed choirs with the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, stepping in on occasion to lead the ensemble. The orchestral scores Suite margariteña (1954) and Sinfonieta satirica (1965) remain his most familiar pieces.
