Biography
Insision, a black metal outfit from Sweden whose sonic approach diverges sharply from national conventions, draws inspiration from pioneering American death metal acts such as Suffocation and Morbid Angel. Emerging in 1997 out of the dissolved underground acts Embalmer and Ildoor, the group issued its first demo, Meant to Suffer, the following year and subsequently secured a deal with Heathendoom. Entering Necromorbus Studio during the initial months of 1999, Insision laid down tracks for its inaugural full-length effort, The Dead Live On. Also in 1999, vocalist Carl Birath, previously of Azatoth, and bassist Daniel Ekroth, ex-Dellamorte, both came aboard. The refreshed roster enabled Insision to share stages with Dark Funeral, the Haunted, and Hypocrisy while capturing the additional demo Promo 2000. In 2001 guitarist Toob, formerly with Genochrush Ferox, completed the lineup, allowing the five-piece to head into Berno Studios and capture Beneath the Folds of the Flesh, marking their debut appearance on Earache/Wicked World.
