Biography
Among multiple garage outfits sharing the Intruders moniker, this ensemble stands out due to its release of "Now That You Know," which stands as a folk-punk standard. Originating in Pittsfield, IL during 1964, the group endured multiple lineup shifts before settling on a configuration that included lead vocalist Doug Oakley, guitarists Bill Mobus and Bob ‘Bub' Evans, bassist Larry Lemons, and drummer Jeff Hallows when they cut "Now That You Know" for the It label around the middle of 1966. Evoking an earlier, rougher incarnation of the Byrds, this track achieved regional success yet drew no attention from larger record companies, leading to the Intruders' breakup shortly thereafter.
