Biography
The Invisible Man's Band consisted of brothers Clarence Jr., Dennis, James, and Keni Burke, each of whom had previously performed in the Five Stairsteps, the group celebrated for its 1970 million-selling hit "O-o-h Child." Under their new name the Burkes scored their biggest success with the chugging dance track "All Night Thing," a single released via Island Records' Mango imprint that climbed to number nine on Billboard's R&B chart during the spring of 1980. That same year the quartet delivered its self-titled LP in the summer months. Additional singles to register on the charts included "Really Wanna See You," paired with its own album and issued on Neil Bogart's Boardwalk Records—the label the musicians had already collaborated with back in their Five Stairsteps era—and "Sunday Afternoon," which appeared on Move 'n' Groove.
