Biography
Prior to issuing his inaugural long-form effort In Perenne Riserva, Io, Carlo—originally Carlo Fath, born in Germany during 1971 before his family relocated to Italy at age three—had already earned notice as a skilled house and techno producer, working chiefly through the independent label Motivo after joining its staff in 2002. Having devoted his early years to piano and guitar while also training in body-building and martial arts, Carlo moved into electronica as a young adult, shaping the album around a fusion of acoustic and electronic textures that surfaced most clearly on the offbeat lead single “L'Ego,” whose title alluded to both a child’s building block and the psychological concept.
