Biography
Ishtar came together as a Flemish folk ensemble in 2003, established by Soetkin Baptist alongside Michel Vangheluwe, with recordings issued across Dutch, English, and French languages. Their initial long-player TroubAmour arrived in 2005, setting the stage for a major commercial leap forward after selection—over Paranoiacs and Nelson—for Belgium’s entry at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. Though “O Julisso” placed seventeenth during the semi-finals, both that track and the accompanying album achieved Top 10 status domestically. Baptist departed in 2010 for individual endeavors, prompting the addition of Hanelore Muyllaert and Isabelle Dekeyser ahead of the 2011 release Tussen Donker en Licht.
