Biography
Born to the renowned salsa performer Ismael Rivera, known as Maelo, the Puerto Rican musician Ismael Rivera Jr. became a member of Ismael Cortijo's ensemble during the closing years of the 1970s. Together they produced the album El Sueño del Maestro, which included the track "Muralla de Bronce" as a tribute to his parent. Upon relocating to New York, Maelo collaborated with Francisco Bastar before joining the tropical ensemble los Hijos de la Salsa. Following a performance alongside Jesús Cepeda, Ismael Rivera Jr. chose to pursue a solo career.
