Biography
Producer John Giotto functions as the central creative force for It's My Party, echoing Phil Spector by honoring the girl groups of the 1960s while adapting their style for modern listeners. He launched the project in the late 1980s alongside three singers in their twenties, crafting an early sound that drew greater influence from the Go-Go's than from the Ronettes. After that lineup dissolved in 1995, Giotto identified the missing element as genuine teenagers delivering anthems of youthful femininity. He enlisted three students from a local high school, at which point It's My Party took its lasting shape. Although the vocalists have changed from time to time, Giotto sustains the group's commitment to the 1960s girl group tradition by offering fresh versions of both established hits and new songs.
