Biography
Pop-oriented R&B singer-songwriter IV Jay champions messages of positivity and self-confidence. After inking a deal with Atlantic Records while still a teenager, she has released the EPs IV (2018) and 5th Element (2020) along with several standalone singles.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, IV Jay—whose full first name is Jaylynn—first began tinkering on keyboards at thirteen, soon added vocals, and began posting Instagram clips of current hits. Those renditions of tracks such as Chris Brown’s “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and Childish Gambino’s “Redbone” helped her amass an online audience, leading Atlantic to sign her in 2018. That same year, at sixteen, she made her official introduction with the single “Thirsty.” “Pretty Wings” arrived soon after and paved the way for October’s four-track EP IV, which contained “Thirsty” plus three additional originals. Two more singles appeared in 2019 before she assembled and delivered the nine-song set 5th Element in September 2020.
