Biography
Entering the music world in 1972, Ivor Lancellotti gained initial notice after Marisa Gata Mansa presented his song "Estrada" at TV Tupi's University Festival. Among the interpreters of his work, Clara Nunes took on "Às Vezes Faz Bem Chorar," while the major success "Sem Companhia" found new versions from Nana Caymmi, Nelson Gonçalves, and Alcione. Elizeth Cardoso delivered "Vai Ser Tão Fácil," later revisited by Beth Carvalho, who additionally interpreted "Talismãs." Further covers include Roberto Carlos with "Abandono," Nana Caymmi alongside Alcione on "Velha Cicatriz," João Nogueira's take on "De amor e coisas amigas," Cauby Peixoto rendering "Como É que Pode?," Ângela Maria with "Trocando Venenos," and Joanna performing "Amor Alheio." Although respected by leading figures in samba and MPB across thirty years for his abilities, Lancellotti managed to release only three albums between 1986 and 2000, continuing to struggle for recognition as the originator behind numerous successful tracks.
