Biography
Ivy Dugas performed as bass player and co-lead vocalist for Jackie Collier and the Cajun Cousins, the Lafayette, Louisiana ensemble that ranked him among the leading Cajun musicians of the late 1990s. The Cajun French Music Association (CFMA) named him Best Male Vocalist in 1997, 1998, and 1999. He composed and delivered the vocals on the CFMA Song of the Year winners “The Gravel Road” in 1997 and “Little Short Pants” in 1998. In the same three years he also collected “band of the year” honors alongside Jackie Collier’s group.
Dugas began performing Cajun music at age twelve and sharpened his craft with Phil Menard and the Louisiana Travelers. After joining Jackie Collier and the Cajun Cousins, fronted by the Cajun accordionist, he wrote most of the band’s material and traded lead vocals with fiddler Benny Mueller.
