Biography
Hailing from Michigan, the rapper and producer J Chase first surfaced in the early 2010s as a teenager performing in Lansing, the state capital, with the local crew Black Diamond before stepping out on his own. His birth name is Joseph Washington, and he took the J Chase alias just as his profile rose through the early mixtapes Gumbo and Welcome to My Reality. Opening slots for Big Sean, Bun B, Kid Ink, and other prominent artists expanded his audience, and by 2016 he logged further traction with the singles Louder and She's a Monsta on MNS Records.
