J-Diggs

J-Diggs, born Jamal Diggs, serves as a highly productive rapper from the Bay Area while holding the role of co-CEO at Thizz Entertainment, the pivotal imprint launched by the late Mac Dre that helped spread the hyphy variant of hip-hop. Like numerous artists in that scene, his gruff yet laidback delivery centers on themes including fast cars and motorcycles, drugs, sex, and urban existence, as showcased across projects such as Da Bad (2009), California Livin', Pt. 3 (2016), and #90DayHouseArrestProject (2018).

Since becoming active in the mid-'90s, the Vallejo, California native has issued well over a dozen solo and joint albums while appearing on recordings by his mentor Mac Dre and additional Thizz roster members such as Little Bruce, Mac Mall, and Mistah F.A.B. He has further participated in efforts from the groups Crest Creepaz and Thizz Nation. His own catalog opened in 1999 via Both Sides of the Gate. In 2005 he followed with California Livin', Pt. 2, positioned as a continuation of Mac Dre's 1999 release. Four years afterward, output expanded markedly through the concurrent trilogy Da Good, Da Bad, and Da Ugly. Both All Gas!! and No Brakes!! arrived together in 2014, the same year that brought Montana Montana Montana's Diggs-presented debut Really Not a Rapper along with another Diggs effort, Soul of a Gangsta. California Livin', Pt. 3: Chasin' My Dreams surfaced in 2016. Roughly two years later he presented a follow-up to Really Not a Rapper and assembled #90DayHouseArrestProject, which featured more than two dozen guests ranging from established Bay Area figures like Spice 1 to emerging talents such as Phatt Black.
