Biography
Since arriving in Greenwich Village during 1978, Jack Hardy has occupied a pivotal position in folk music. He helped establish the Songwriter's Exchange, the SpeakEasy Musician's Co-op, and Fast Folk Musical Magazine, while issuing multiple domestic releases on his Great Divide label that continued into the new century with Bandolier (2002), Coin of the Realm (2004), Tinker’s Coin: Celtic Anthology (2005), and Noir (2007). Viewed as a writer’s writer, Hardy blends political themes, Americanized Irish influences, and recurring mythological imagery with conventional New York folk & roll textures. His sixteenth album, Rye Grass, appeared on Great Divide in 2009.
