Biography
Formed amid the sweltering Knoxville, TN summer of 1998, Jag Star emerged as a rock ensemble featuring electric and acoustic guitarist J. Robert Lewis, bassist Kenner Rawdon, violinist Erin Tipton, drummer Rafael Harris, and Sarah Lewis on piano, mandolin, and lead vocals. Sarah Lewis is also J. Robert's spouse. The group played clubs and fairs across the South while gaining recognition through talent searches and battle-of-the-bands competitions. Its debut album, titled The Beginning, arrived in 2000 and showcased eclectic rock- and pop-flavored songs such as "Fade Away," "Better Girl," and "Gone Again." Shortly after the recording's completion, Seamus Tierney—who previously collaborated with Letters to Cleo and Jewel—stepped in for Harris on drums.
