Alternative singer/songwriter Jahnah Camille channels the texture of daily worries, letdowns, and emotional pain through a layered fusion of indie rock and dream pop. Having first surfaced in the early 2020s with tracks that examined school experiences and the effort to project contentment during her mid-teens, she issued her debut EP, i tried to freeze light, but only remember a girl, via Winspear in 2024.

By that point Jahnah (pronounced "Hannah") had already built visibility within Birmingham, Alabama’s D.I.Y. community. Early recordings such as “Alabama Tears” (2020) and “Middle School” (2021) displayed her skill for wistful melodies and production steeped in dream pop. While assembling material for the EP during her high-school years, she worked with John Michael Young (girlpuppy), resulting in tracks that incorporated reverb-drenched dream pop, ’90s alt rock, and acoustic indie folk. When Winspear issued i tried to freeze light, but only remember a girl in June 2024, the single “elliot” had already drawn hundreds of thousands of streams, and Camille had opened locally for Soccer Mommy and Clairo.
