Biography
Jai Agnish, publisher of Flygirl magazine, investigates the overlap of indie rock and spiritual inquiry, especially within the Christian tradition. Automata, his initial release under his given name after earlier work as Jags, arrived in 2000 as an electro-folky project that continued along the same trajectory. Embracing the do-it-yourself principles of the indie-rock scene, Agnish crafts faith-infused songs free of "religiosity," setting his work apart from the prevailing sound of contemporary Christian music.
