Biography
Known for fusing hip-hop and reggae into a sound sometimes tagged Jamaican American, the American DJ Jamal-Ski aligned with Columbia in the early 1990s. His opening full-length, Roughneck Reality, surfaced in 1993 and spotlighted pointed cuts such as "Akbar's Groove," which targeted politicians including George Bush, Ronald Reagan, and David Duke. After a stretch of limited activity, 2001 brought Guaranteed Rewind, a collection that assembled remixes, lesser-known material, and key moments from his debut.
