James Hall, who fronts the gospel choir Worship and Praise, entered the recording arena in 1995 through God Is in Control. That same year also brought King of Glory, while 1997 saw the arrival of According to James Hall, Chapter 3. On March 24, 1998, Worship & Praise etched its place in history by becoming the first gospel choir to capture a live performance at New York’s Lincoln Center; the concert reached stores on CD that summer, with Messiah arriving before the year ended. We Celebrate Christmas with James Hall surfaced in 1999, and spring 2001 delivered We Are at War, an album that climbed into the upper ranks of the Billboard Gospel chart. Hall issued Voices of the Citadel in 2006 on his own Music Blend Records imprint, then returned the following year with Live at the Foxwoods through Comin Atcha. Both 2012’s Trip Down Memory Lane and 2015’s New Era, released via Entertainment One, ascended to the summit of the Billboard Gospel charts.
