Biography
James Huggins III, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who also records as James Husband, co-founded the Athens, GA-based psychedelic pop combo Great Lakes. He further contributed to several other prominent indie pop bands linked to the ever-expanding Elephant 6 family tree, among them Ladybug Transistor, the Essex Green, Marshmallow Coast, and Of Montreal, the last of which marked his longest tenure. Across every one of these engagements Huggins continued to compose and capture his own material, selling handmade solo cassettes next to the requisite band merchandise at most Of Montreal shows. Written and recorded over a 12-year period, his first "official" solo album, A Parallax I, arrived in 2009 on the Polyvinyl label.
