James Jones

While numerous bustling cities claim their own notable musicians sharing the name Jim Jones, the academic enclave of Oxford, England, points instead to the frontman who fronted Thee Hypnotics before forming Black Moses. That earlier group remained active slightly longer than five years after launching in 1989. Jones assembled Black Moses about ten years after that, and the band’s Emperor Deb album surfaced in 2000 to the delight of anyone named Debbie.
