Born Jane Elizabeth Fuller in San Francisco, California, she grew up in a household that steered her toward music from an early age. Piano lessons began at nine, yet by eleven the guitar had captured her attention so completely that she has rarely set it aside. Years of focused training, both one-on-one and through formal college programs, led to dual degrees—one in theatre from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and another in literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz. While still in high school she played bass and sang in a rock band, took part in music-theatre productions, and later joined college choral ensembles. Jazz standards soon became her focus, performed in intimate club, coffee-house, and casual settings. Throughout the 1990s, primarily across Southern California, she worked both as a solo guitarist-vocalist and alongside a range of jazz groups. Her self-released debut album earned favorable notices and broadened her following; two of its original tracks were subsequently licensed for television. Her sets draw from an eclectic storehouse that embraces unhurried ballads such as “Black Coffee,” nimble swing numbers like “No Moon At All” and “Route 66,” and enduring standards including “All of Me.” Equally at home with Latin, rock, jazz, blues, and classical idioms, she has honed her own songwriting, crafting lyrics marked by wit and charm. Her vocal delivery floats lightly while her readings of lyrics remain thoughtful and precise.
