Biography
Born to country western music legend Marty Robbins, Janet Robbins appeared predestined to carry on a musical lineage. Early piano instruction, nocturnal performances by her father, and her mother’s religious melodies echoing through the home each day did nothing to steer her toward professional ambitions, which she firmly rejected. During adolescence, however, the classic rock sounds of Led Zeppelin and the Doors—above all Jim Morrison’s “Riders on the Storm”—exerted an irresistible pull. She recognized an immediate kinship with the seductive, introspective poet and vocalist, prompting her own later songs to adopt comparable erotic and dreamlike textures. Only after accepting that music alone felt authentic did Janet Robbins issue her independent debut All The Worlds in 1998.
