Biography
Janice Peters carved out a brief but intense role in the formative years of British rock 'n roll. Signed in 1958 to EMI's Columbia label, the brunette singer with the beguiling smile recorded the Brenda Lee-styled "This Little Girl's Gone Rockin'," paired with the comparatively flat B-side "Kiss Cha Cha." The following year she teamed with Shadows co-founder and songwriter Ian Samwell for his composition "A Girl Likes," a high-energy rockabilly number whose frantic tempo and Peters' vocal acrobatics pushed close to Lene Lovich-style punk territory.
At her peak, Peters sounded too American for British audiences to embrace. She exited the studio scene quickly, yet left behind several tracks that remain highly enjoyable.
