Biography
Originating from Rockville, Maryland, vocalist Janine Davy spent her early years in that locale. A professional flutist with the U.S. Air Force Band served as her father, while her mother worked as a singer. Multiple instruments became part of her childhood training, yet she gravitated toward vocal work. Extensive performances throughout southern Maryland marked her initial phase, during which she fronted the classic rock outfit Janine Davy & Heartspeak that also included her brother, guitarist Erich Seehafer. Funkstown Records issued her debut album, Looking for You, on October 25, 2005. Songwriter Steven Digman established the Memphis, TN, imprint, which included numerous pieces written by him. Previously connected to singer Eva Cassidy, who had interpreted several of his songs, Digman brought in several of Cassidy’s backup musicians for the project. Cassidy’s producer Chris Biondo shared co-production duties on the album with Digman.
