Biography
Jann Klose, a singer and songwriter born in Germany, specializes in melodic, soulful pop and rock shaped by the singer-songwriter tradition. Although his birthplace was Mannheim, Germany, he spent his early years in South Africa. His adolescence involved repeated travel between his family base in Hamburg and Cleveland, Ohio, where he joined an exchange program organized by the American Field Service. During those years he first took up singing while learning to play piano and guitar. After completing high school he trained as a vocalist and sang with several American choirs, appearing in multiple productions mounted by the Cleveland Opera Chorus. Relocating to New York in 2000 brought him stage work in musical theater, including a staging of the Who's Tommy, a touring Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde, and a European run of Jesus Christ Superstar. Settling in New York also marked the start of his recording career, which yielded the albums Enough Said (1997), The Strangest Thing (1999), The Black Box EP (2003), Reverie (2007), and the Sacrifice EP (2010). In 2012 he contributed performances of Buckley material to the soundtrack of the film Greetings from Tim Buckley. The following year he issued the album Mosaic, featuring his rendition of the Tim Buckley composition "Song to the Siren."
