Biography
Originating in Tokyo, Japan, the Jaribu Afrobeat Arkestra operates as a thirteen-piece collective devoted to its self-defined “Neo-Afrobeat” style, which folds in funk grooves, dance rhythms, and jazz-inflected phrasing. Drawing creative direction from Afro-pop legend Fela Kuti, the ensemble issued its first album in 2009. Two years later the group followed with its second full-length release, Mediacracy.
