Biography
Jason Ajemian works as an acoustic bassist within Chicago’s underground music community, where he contributes to creative improvised, noise, and experimental styles rooted in rock and jazz. He earned his degree from William Patterson College in New Jersey after studying under bassist Rufus Reid and percussionist Kevin Norton. Upon relocating to Chicago in fall 2000, he became active in the city’s expanding progressive music circles of that period. Beyond bass performance, Ajemian incorporates vocals and electronics into his work. His lengthy list of recording and performance credits encompasses Rob Mazurek, the Exploding Star Orchestra, Dragons 1976, Lay All Over It, Born Heller, Matt Bauder, Ken Vandermark's Crisis Ensemble, Who Cares How Long You Sink, Triage, Mandarin Movie, the Chicago Underground Trio, and many additional collaborators.
