Biography
Danish producers Jatoma maintained a guarded stance toward their personal backgrounds, consistently portrayed as an anonymous three-piece unit. Identities eventually surfaced as longtime figure Tomas Barfod, previously known through Tomboy and WhoMadeWho, alongside younger associates Tomas and Mads, each already past their mid-twenties by the time the project formed. In the first months of 2010 the trio drew notice from Kompakt’s Michael Mayer, securing inclusion on the Cologne imprint’s Total 11 compilation released that August. Within the two-disc collection, “Helix” stood out as a buoyant club cut whose knocking beats, rattling accents, and shimmering textures balanced evenly. Slightly more than eight weeks afterward, Jatoma issued their first full-length effort under their own name.
