Biography
Born in Puerto Rico, Jay Lozada came under the sway of leading local salsa vocalists during his earliest years. The brother of rap star Vico C—born Luis Armando Lozada—he performed with groups such as la Mezcla and Tercera Generación before securing a contract with Universal. That association yielded his self-titled debut album in 2001, whose first hit was Nelson Jaime’s adaptation of Christian Castro’s “Por Amarte Así.”
